5 Top Tips To Keep You Running In January
Setting New Years goals can come at a high cost! Take running for example, if you have not run much before and you decide to run every day in January, you are at a higher risk of getting an injury. Follow my top tips to stay injury free in your running! Get out there and enjoy the miles!
1. It’s cold and you have just started back at work. Motivation may be low, but there is no need for this! Set yourself achievable and realistic goals. I would recommend entering a race. Whether it’s a 5k or an Ultra – Marathon, it will give you something to focus on. There are some amazing races out there, get on the internet and have a look!

2. When you get our the door, start off slowly. It will take your body a bit of time to warm up and get into the swing of running. I normally do my first 10 minuets of a run really slowly. I was lucky enough to spend a couple of weeks in Iten, ‘The Home Of Champions” in Kenya, this is what they do. I learnt from the best and it really helps to get your body ready for a good run.
3. There are some great running groups all around the country who do organised runs for all ages and abilities. Running on your own can be a bit daunting. Running in a group will take your mind off the task at hand and who knows, you may make some friends on the journey.
4. Find some great routes that you can run. I love nothing more than discovering new trails to run on. I use Google Maps and the OS Maps App to find paths and trails that I can run on. It’s amazing how many trails there are that you don’t notice. A little bit of research will go a long way!
5. Have a plan! There are so many different training programs available on the internet that can seem a little bit scary, especially if you are new to running. There is so much advice out there but knowing what is right for YOU can be difficult to find. If you have any questions then give me a shout and I will do my best to answer your questions.
